Many of Arzilla's family members came to help us celebrate her 100th
birthday at St. John's. The mayor of Globe (Stan Gibson), as well as councilman
Ernie Lopez,
came to celebrate as well. And the mayor read a proclamation declaring
"Arzilla Benton Day". The proclomation included references to
Arzilla's life including that she has lived through two world wars, several
smaller wars, the Great Depression, and the invention of television as well
as the internet. The town of Globe also presented Arzilla with 2 dozen
gorgeous long-stemmed roses.

Bob and Charm McCusick take a photo with Arzilla. In the background
is a tile mosaic of Simon of Cyrene. Simon carried the cross for Jesus
when he was no longer able to do so. Bob and Charm made the tile
mosaic many years ago and during the birthday party, Bob shared with the
crowd that the red robe that Simon is wearing was done in honor of a
favorite red shawl that Arzilla used to wear.
