The Alpha Course
Do You Have Questions?
Alpha is an internationally acclaimed course on Christianity, and St. John's Episcopal Church is delighted to be part of the greater Globe-Miami Christian community to offer this course. All members of the community are welcome to participate in the Alpha Course. There is no fee for the course. Alpha is not about joining the church - it is an opportunity learn more about Christ. We encourage anyone who may have questions about the Christian faith, or anyone who may simply want to be refreshed in their faith, to join us for the course. It is said that in any given week, close to 5,000 Alpha courses are taking place somewhere in the world. From its humble beginnings in 1976 at Holy Trinity Brompton in London England, Alpha has spread across the world and denominational lines. "The emphasis behind Alpha is not about denominations or the way a particular church does things," said Rev. Byron Mills, Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church. "The emphasis is on the basics of the Christian faith centered in our relationship with Jesus Christ, and how we live our life with Him." During the Alpha course, participants will address the basic questions outlined below. Each session includes a meal, a short teaching, and table discussion about the teaching. George Gallop, Jr. of the Gallop polling organization wrote, "Alpha is a well-designed, implementable course that addresses the basic questions of life for the churched and un-churched alike…Through Alpha, Jesus Christ is capturing the hearts and minds of an ever growing number of persons."
