Pastoral Care Ministry

Healing, Sharing, Caring

And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel,
and healing everywhere.
Luke 9:6

Mission Statement:

To encourage and equip our parish family for the healing presence of Christ among us; by

1.      providing opportunities for persons to be vehicles of Christ's healing, and

2.      providing opportunities for people to receive the healing Christ offers.

This mission is carried out by teams of highly skilled and experienced care givers, sensitive to the individual needs of each parishioner.

Pastoral care ministries are as follows:

Lay Eucharist Visitors  Year-round visits to the homebound.

Order of St. Luke  Learn the biblical foundation of healing prayer. Pray with others. Prayer teams, at Sunday and weekday services, also visit those who are homebound.

Care Partners  Ministry to homebound and hospitalized when acts of kindness are needed more than listening skills. Your small groups can ask for Care Partner training at your regular meeting time. Or, call the church office and ask for more information.

Hospitality   You are invited to coffee hour between Sunday services. Come meet some new people.

Flower Delivery   Flowers share the love of Christ without words. Weekly delivery of altar flowers to the hospitalized and homebound. Christmas and Easter flowers are also distributed by any who choose to bring a blessing to another. Call the church office if you would like to volunteer to take flowers to the homebound or hospitalized once a month.

Library  A variety of books, videotapes, audio tapes and CDs are available to all. Care Partners can deliver these to the homebound.

Prayer Chain  Call the church office if you would like prayer via the prayer chain or at the worship services. You may also take part in our prayer chain. Your name will be added to one of  teams so that prayer requests move quickly from one person to the next.

Homebound Ministry  Do you know of someone who can no longer attend St. John’s church services? We provide a Lay Eucharist Visitor upon request. Call the church office.

The Pastoral Care Ministry team at St. John's is here to help. If you or a loved one is in need of pastoral care, or if you would like to volunteer for any of the opportunities noted above, please call the church office.
